Download your Facebook Data File

Here are Facebook's instructions for downloading your data. Be sure to select JSON data format, not HTML. For the purposes of using this tool, you only need to select the data that will be used, but you can also select your entire data thing to keep things simple. This tool will transform posts and media, so it needs these items:

• Select "Complete copy" and make sure the Format is JSON.
• From 'Your activity across Facebook':
  • Saved items and collections (for saved links, posts, media)
  • Messages (if you want to include an HTML archive of chat messages, and photos and videos will be separated to prevent abuse)
  • Posts (your posts, photos, videos)
  • Stories (photos and videos)
  • Reels (videos)
  • Groups (group posts)
  • Other activity (Notes)
• Apps and websites off of Facebook (for links that you've shared from other sites to Facebook)
